“Named after the previous owner, Helen Mullane and Armel Whyte’s café-bar seems much older than it is, as the whole interior was reconstructed with salvaged materials (the flooring was once in the London Stock Exchange). It is brilliantly done, with the long, narrow bar divided up in the traditional way, with oilcloth-covered tables, now extending into a restaurant in the house next door. It is the type of contemporary, self-confident Irish eating house that visitors hope for but do not always find in every provincial town.
Helen is an impressive hostess, buzzing about, dealing with orders and queries with grace and efficiency, backed up by an organised kitchen playing to it’s strengths: great raw materials, careful cooking by a mix of old hands and new recruits, well led by Armel.

This restaurant is well worth a visit when you visit Listowel. The food has a Michelin star vibe; each dish worked and reworked for flavour.
Service is professional, friendly and it is obvious the staff are proud of the high standard here.

As always a very warm welcome into this "wonderland" ... you feel like you take a step back in time when you enter Allos with lots of character and history ..a unique dining experience that is always consistent and definitely a step above the rest ....
My favourite is always their seafood bisque soup ..and I had fish main course on both occasions...both perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and served with fresh asparagus.
Service top class ..always someone around to take care of you...and Helen the hostess always with a smile and a chat ..no matter how busy ...oh and don't forget to try one of their delicious cocktails ...Katie makes the best Cosmopolitan and Espresso Martini.
A credit to Listowel ... and a must on your travels through this beautiful part of the world

I recently visited Allo’s with my partner and it was one of the most enjoyable nights I have experienced in a restaurant in a long time. As it was my partners birthday I wanted to go somewhere special and Allo’s was recommended. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by a lovely waitress who offered us a drink at the bar or we could go straight to our table. We chose the latter as we were so hungry!! The dining room has a beautiful intimate feel to it but you could feel a fabulous atmosphere to the place. The menu was excellent with an extensive choice of starters mains and desserts, with anything from scallops, lamb, pork and seabass available and there was a very good wine menu available. The meal was delicious and my partner even got a candle on his dessert( I had let the waitress know know in booking it was a birthday) overall the food was great, the service was excellent and it was a highly enjoyable evening. Will certainly be going again and recommending it to people!
